My Story
Hey there! My name is Miclo Cuauhtémoc González, I use he/they pronouns, and I want to tell you all a little bit about me!
I was born and raised in the wonderful city of Chicago, and yes, I do mean real Chicago. My abuelitos, my tíos, and my father all immigrated here from Mexico, and my Opa immigrated here from Germany, so needless to say, I had QUITE the boisterous household growing up. I was blessed with one of the most supportive families, and they are the driving force of why I do what I do.

Ever since I was younger, my parents have said that they knew I would be a performer. I spent every waking moment singing, and would dance on the soccer field instead of chasing the ball. This was made all the more clear after my first show. I played Mr. Mayor in Seussical Jr, and even though I was only 10, something inside of me clicked. This is what I was supposed to be doing.

I am a proud graduate of Whitney M. Young Magnet High School, a selective enrollment school in Chicago with high achievement in the performing arts. I spent those 4 years performing in choir, theatre, and our modern rock guitar program. It was in high school where I started performing for Little Kids Rock (now known as Music Will), and raising money for music programs in schools across America.

I attended Drake University in Des Moines, IA, and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. In my time at Drake, I learned SO MUCH. I left Drake with a much stronger technical background in singing, acting, and dancing, and feeling like a career in performance was attainable and possible for me. I also left Drake having met some of the most AMAZING people that I know will be with me for the long haul.

While I was in undergrad, I spent a semester at the National Theatre Institute in Waterford, within their Musical Theatre program. When granted admission to NTI, I was also made a Fellow within the Miranda Family Fellowship, a Fellowship dedicated to giving up and coming artists of color opportunities to advance themselves within the theatre world. I attended their annual summit in 2024, and got to meet and perform for my ALL TIME IDOL, Lin Manuel Miranda. This was the opportunity of a lifetime, and this Fellowship has made me realize that my dreams are within reach. All I have to do is reach for them.

Having lived in New York now for over a year, I am proud of how much I have thrown myself into New York life. I have been able to establish wonderful friendships, I have been honing my dance skills at Broadway Dance Center almost every week (Thank you Avi for your patience), and I have shown up to every audition that I can. I have learned SO MUCH in the short time I have been here, and I cannot wait to see the artist and human that I continue to grow into.

In August of 2024, I made the HUGE move from Chicago to New York, with one of my best friends, Sydney Michele Castiglione, into the basement of her great aunt's house deep in Queens. (2 divas, 1 basement.) Within a month, we both made our Off-Broadway debuts, and we have been running this race together ever since.
